Route from the “Laululava” bus stop to the outdoor gym and from there to the accessible toilet

The gravel path leading to the sports area is compacted and suitable for wheelchairs. When moving from the training area towards the parking lot, it is necessary to cross a perpendicular asphalt-covered pedestrian path. Since the asphalt path is at a higher elevation than the gravel area, there is a steeper incline at this crossing.

A person with weaker arm strength may struggle at this point and would likely need assistance.

The training area offers excellent mobility options, with three specially designed wheelchair-accessible gym elements: hand presses, pull-ups, and a hand cycle. Additionally, the area includes CrossFit ropes and a ladder section. The ladder allows a person to pull themselves up from their wheelchair and stand.

At this section of the gym, a person with balance issues can stand and stretch near the ladder with the help of a personal assistant. Someone with better balance can also use the vertically anchored paired ropes, which have enough space for a wheelchair user to fit between them. For stronger individuals, there are also pull-up bars at a suitable height.

Some of the gym machines designed for strength training may be slightly too high for smaller individuals. However, there are many different options available, allowing users to target the same muscle groups using alternative equipment.

Wheelchair users with better balance can also use some of the other training machines by transferring onto them, but this depends greatly on the individual’s abilities.

The sports park also features an accessible toilet. Inside the toilet, there is ample space for a wheelchair to maneuver comfortably. The entrance has a newly installed ramp that meets accessibility standards, ensuring that a wheelchair user can enter independently. The door has a locking mechanism that engages when opened to 90 degrees.
